Is more material handling in our future? With things looking up on the global economic front this may be the case. According to the United Nations Global Economic Monitoring United predictions for a global economic expansion over the next two years is in our future, spurred by stronger growth in the last six months and a modest recovery in trade and investment.
In the latest update, the UN notes “firm economic growth in many developed countries and strengthened prospects in countries in transition, with east and south Asia remaining the world’s most dynamic regions”.
The report predicted economic growth of 2.7% this year and 2.9% in 2018.
There is no doubt that materials handling, as the sector that keeps things moving and particularly the GTA, will benefit from this growth. That means more safety training for skilled and unskilled workers such as lift truck/ forklift training, manual materials handling, overhead crane, WHMIS 2015 and possibly even working at heights, elevating work platform and swing stage (suspended work platform system) with increased growth filtering through the economy.
