Our story began in 2003 at the kitchen table of our founder, Lauren McFarlane. Driven by the desire to help people, she developed courses that provided first aid and lift truck training. Switching from a successful career in sales and marketing felt natural as she shifted gears towards ensuring the honest workforce of Ontario got home safe every night.
Her previous experience in an entrepreneurial atmosphere, coupled with her innate skills in organization, management and growth strategies, led her to further her vision. Her 1-person company quickly expanded to a group of 5 passionate people, all driven by the same purpose.
Needless to say, Act First Safety has come a long way since. In its 5th year, our operations grew considerably as our courses gained popularity among employers and workers alike, necessitating our move from a humble kitchen table to a 900 square foot warehouse.
Since then, we have expanded our offerings and services to a great extent. In 2009, we started providing a wide array of online courses and safety gear in addition to our in-person training programs. Our journey witnessed another major milestone soon when we moved to our current location - a sprawling 5,600 square foot space that allowed us to procure specialized training equipment and enabled in-depth theoretical and practical sessions at our location.
Our biggest move yet, it also allowed us to expand our team of instructors and administrative staff so we can serve you better on this journey of mutual life-long learning.
Act First Safety is proud to partner with the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) - a globally recognized leader in workplace violence prevention - becoming the exclusive facilitator of their programs in Canada. We look forward to forging more such strategic partnerships in the future that fuel our growth and further our mission.
