Advantages
1. What is the duration of validity for a Forklift Certificate in Ontario?
To paraphrase CSA B335-15 (R2024) safety standard for lift trucks, operators must receive retraining at intervals not exceeding three years (s.6.21.1). Additionally, upgrade training (s.21.2) is required when operators encounter unfamiliar or modified equipment, when operating conditions or the environment change, or when legislative updates or identified deficiencies necessitate it.
2. Is prior experience necessary before enrolling in a forklift training course?
No previous training or experience is required. Act First Safety’s course can be taken by complete beginners; however, operating other mobile equipment, including having obtained a vehicle license is beneficial.
According to CSA Standard B335-15, forklift operators must receive a minimum of 8 hours of supervised practice and successfully complete a practical evaluation to be deemed competent. This practical training includes hands-on exercises and evaluations to assess safe operating skills.
3. Is hands-on training with a real forklift part of Act First Safety’s course?
Yes. Conducted at your facility, our forklift certification program includes practical training sessions with the equipment available at your site.
4. Can Act First Safety’s forklift training be customized to suit individual workplace needs?
Our team prepares for on-site training by first understanding your unique workplace requirements. We account for equipment classification, fuel source, and conduct inspections tailored to your specific equipment, alongside a review of labels, charts, and load capacities. Practical tests are then performed at your facility using your equipment, ensuring operators can confidently manage everyday situations specific to your operations.
5. What type of forklifts do you offer training for?
We offer tailored training for all Class 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7 forklifts, allowing us to cover multiple classes within a single course to best meet your specific needs. The classes include:
