Hoisting and Rigging Training Program
At a high level, the overall learning objectives of this hoisting and rigging training course, at a minimum, is to gain a broad understanding of the hazards, legislation, load calculations, equipment, tools and devices and signalling for hoisting and rigging operations. The goal of this course is to communicate applicable safe work practices through a working knowledge of the requirements, guidelines and procedures, encourage accident prevention, improve workplace safety culture and to improve overall safety on the job. This hoisting and rigging training aims to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform hoisting and rigging tasks safely and efficiently.

Learning objectives:
- Identify common hazards and impact on operations
- Understand and locate applicable legislation
- Determine criteria for various loads
- Identify various slings and rigging hardware and safe use
- Calculate Working Load Limit (WLL)
- Show safe sling configurations
- Demonstrate correct selection and use of slings and hoisting hardware
- List rope type characteristics and care, use and inspection
- Calculate safe loads using the ‘Field Calculation Formula’
- Demonstrate knot and hitch tying
- Identify equipment and unique features for rigging and safe operation
- Understand safe signalling practices
- Demonstrate hoisting hand signals
- Distinguish different crane types and uses
