JHSC Certification Training in Toronto
In Ontario, workplaces with 20 or more workers are typically required to have a joint health and safety committee (JHSC). Act First Safety provides comprehensive, Ministry of Labour/Chief Prevention Officer (CPO) approved JHSC Certification Training in Toronto. Furthermore, this training is essential for both Part 1 and Part 2 of the JHSC certification and positions your company to meet stringent Ministry of Labour enforcement standards.

Understanding JHSC Requirements
Most companies in Ontario with 20 or more employees need to establish a Joint Health and Safety Committee to comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Training (OHSA). Specifically, the primary role of this committee is to spot potential health and safety issues within the workplace and address them to the employer. As a result, our certification program trains your committee members to fulfill these responsibilities effectively.
Legislative Requirements for JHSC
The number of workers at your place of employment determines your needs for a Joint Health and Safety Committee:
- 1 to 5 Workers: A JHSC or health and safety representative is not required unless affected by a designated substance regulation.
- 6 to 19 Workers: One health and safety representative chosen by the workers is necessary. If a designated substance regulation impacts your workplace, a JHSC is required.
- 20 to 49 Workers: Establishing a JHSC is obligatory.
- 50+ Workers: Your workplace must have a JHSC with at least four members, with equal representation from workers and management.
Certification Requirements for JHSC
The Occupational Health and Safety Act mandates that at least two JHSC members, one representing the workers and the other management, must complete Part 1 and Part 2 of the JHSC Certification Training. To ensure compliance, Act First Safety ensures these crucial training requirements are met through our dynamic, interactive, cost-effective training sessions.
