Co-workers and domestic violence

Concerned that a co-worker may be a victim of domestic violence?

Be understanding. Domestic violence is complicated and victims may not be ready or willing to report their situation to their healthcare provider (ie. doctor, dentist etc.) or the police. If you can provide resources available within your community you may never know when or if the victim may reach out to those resources. But, providing them could change a life(s).

Ensure your employer has the required safety procedures and safety training in place at your business in accordance with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act to ensure the protection of all workers. It’s true that domestic violence has the potential to enter your workplace. Be mindful of its potential triggers such as a co-worker experiencing domestic violence at home.
