Working at Heights Refresher – why you need it
Did you know Working at Heights (WAH) certifications expire? In April 2015, the Ministry of Labour (MOL) mandated that any workers on constructions projects need to be certified in heights training and fall protection. Training providers offering Working at Heights (WAH) courses must be approved by the Chief Prevention Officer (CPO) to be compliant with the change in legislation. In addition, the MOL also mandated that refresher training must be completed every 3 years for a WAH certification to remain valid.
A MOL- and CPO-approved Working at Heights refresher (half-day) course helps workers stay up-to-date on changes to legislation, policies, equipment or technologies that would affect their initial training. If you completed a WAH course prior to April 2015, you must re-take a full-day, CPO-approved course and then complete a refresher course every 3 years thereafter.
The MOL will issue a new wallet-sized certificate as proof of training. This is required should a ministry inspector request proof of training while on a job-site.
