Ontario Ministry of Labour Deadline for Working at Heights Training Is Now Just Weeks Away

Ontario Ministry of Labour Deadline for Working at Heights Training
Is Now Just Weeks Away

October 1, 2017 is the extended deadline for employers and workers in construction projects to complete Ministry of Labour-approved working at heights training in Ontario. After that, employers may face penalties or work stoppages if they are not in compliance with the new training requirements.

Last spring the original deadline of April 1, 2017 was extended to October 1, 2017, and it is not likely to be extended a second time.

The 6-Month Extension to October Came with Conditions
• Workers must be immediately enrolled in a Ministry of Labour-approved working at heights training program scheduled to be completed before October 1, 2017; and

• Employers must have written proof of this enrollment that documents:
– Name of the worker
– Name of the MOL-approved training provider
– Date the training is to be completed
– Name of the approved training program

This written proof of enrollment must be made available to a MOL Inspector upon request.

Act First Safety is a Ministry of Labour-approved Training Provider. We can equip workers and supervisors with the required proof of enrollment, as well as the working at heights training they need to be certified by the Ministry. We are now scheduling training sessions for August and September.

Flexible Training Options Available
We can deliver training in a private classroom setting at your workplace or in a public session at one of our training locations. Our Working at Heights training program takes one full day to complete and qualifies workers and supervisors for a 3-year certification from the Ontario Ministry of Labour.

Act First Safety’s Working at Heights training is also available in Mandarin.
