The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) has recently been charged by the Ministry of Labour for failure to protect a worker from workplace violence.
The MOL laid four charges against CAMH, all related to the health and safety of workers including a claim of insufficient information and a failure to follow procedure to protect a worker from workplace violence. The charges stem from the alleged beating of a nurse by a patient while she was on the job.
According the CAMH blog, a CAMH nurse was injured by a patient, and another nurse who tried to intervene was also injured. CAMH reported the incident the Ministry who has investigated thoroughly but has yet to issue a report. Toronto Police have also been investigating the matter.
