Occupational Health & Safety Professional/Consultant

We pride ourselves on developing excellent relationships with manufacturers and customers.  Our personalized service allows us the opportunity to create solutions that ideally suit our customer’s specific needs.  We are currently looking for a dedicated occupational health and safety professional to join our dynamic team.

The Position

As an occupational health & safety consultant with Act First Safety, you will be dedicated to a new health-care related safety management program.  However, this exciting position encompasses a varied portfolio which may include any industry sector from construction to manufacturing, and offers the opportunity to take on new responsibilities and experiences as our programs expand.  Reporting to the President, the job responsibilities include:


  • Responsible for supporting all aspects of a variety of health and safety programs.
  • Develop and implement original health and safety programs and policies.
  • Conduct safety program needs assessments for a variety of clients, for the purpose of developing customized health & safety management systems.
  • Perform workplace inspections and audits.
  • Lend expertise in the development of new training programs.
  • Demonstrate a thorough comprehension of current health and safety requirements to internal team members and external clients.

This is a full-time position available immediately.


  • A minimum five years experience in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Bachelor’s degree/diploma in Occupational Health, Safety and Environment or a related discipline.
  • CRSP and/or CHSC required or actively pursuing designation.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience applying legislation, standards and best practices to a variety of workplaces.
  • Knowledge of workplace inspections, auditing, investigation practices as a minimum.
  • Demonstrated leadership in occupational health and safety.
  • Background in Industrial and Construction Regulations.
  • Experience in a health care-related field is an asset.
  • Experience with training and program development is an asset.
  • Understanding environment obligations is an asset.
  • Effective leadership, communication (written and verbal), facilitation and teambuilding skills in support of excellent client relations.
  • Strong interpersonal/organizational skills and ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Computer application and MS Office proficiency.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to details.
  • Problem-solving abilities; Achieving results consistently despite obstacles.
  • Project management is an asset.
  • Effective time management is a must.
  • Good listening skills plus a strong ability to empathize.

Compensation will be consistent with demonstrable experience.
